A Teachable Moment: In Color

To commemorate the 60th Anniversary of integration in Huntsville, AL, the Future and Beyond DEI Symposium Planning Committee would like to share a short presentation.
Sonnie Hereford IV was gracious enough to offer his time and share his personal experience as the first African American child to integrate Fifth Avenue School in Huntsville, AL. Huntsville was the first city in Alabama to desegregate, and Mr. Hereford’s experience is a unique and valuable one to share.
We would also like to thank Chris Powell for his expertise in filming and editing this footage.
